Trench Simulation Response
Complete a creative response that describes or portrays your life as a soldier in the Trenches, or as a surviving family member back on the homefront. Take the perspective of either a American, German, British, or French soldier fighting in the trenches on the Western Front in 1918, or a nurse on the Western Front, or a family member back home.
Describe in DETAIL what your life is like fighting in the trenches, and describe an event (a battle scene, artillery barrage, death of a friend, write a poem, rats nibbling your toes, etc.) that stands out as an example of the wretchedness of fighting and dying in the trenches.
This creative response can take one (or more for extra credit) of the following formats:
A TYPED, SINGLE SPACED, and ONE PAGE letter or diary entry
One or more POEMS
A PAINTING on canvas
A SHORT STORY
