Create your own utopia:

Due to the energy crisis and the breakdown of social order, more and more people are fleeing to the OASIS to spend their lives in a digital world. You are a visionary leader that hopes to create one of the following order to help:

  1. A real world community of like minded utopians

  2. A utopia-coded community on a world of your creation within the OASIS of like-minded utopians

Task:

You will create a Utopian system and advertise in a presentation for people to join you in that utopia. You will create a presentation either as a group or individually and present your utopian ideal to your peers in one of the following formats

  • Powerpoint presentation

  • Pamphlet

  • YouTube advertisement

  • Website

If people join — great! If they do not, it looks like you will be perfectly happy in the best place in the universe by yourself.

Your world must work around the following structures:

  • Government

  • Agriculture/Economy/Industry

  • Location/Climate

  • Population

BUILDING BLOCKS OF YOUR UTOPIA

Your presentation must contain each of the following major building blocks of your society.

GOVERNMENT

Here are some to choose from:

  • Democracy

  • Dictatorship

  • Totalitarian

  • Monarchy

You must have some kind of government!

You may choose to incorporate several aspects of different government structures.

Is there healthcare? Schools? What kind of laws?

You should research all of these to decide which works and which does not!

LOCATION & CLIMATE

Compare and contrast your location with one that would not work for your utopia. Research the differences.

Where is your perfect world geographically? (If you are creating a real-world utopia, where on planet Earth is it located? If you are creating an OASIS utopia, describe the geography of that planet)

What is the weather like?

Why is your perfect world in this place? What does it offer to your population?

Does the climate have an effect on another aspect of your society? Think about the risk of natural disasters.

Agriculture, Economy & Industry

Research the following economic structures:

  • Socialism

  • Capitalism

  • Pure Market

  • Market economy

Does your society import or export anything?

How does your society make money?

What kind of jobs do people have? Are they valuable? Why?

Why is your society productive?

Population

What is the culture like? What is the culture based around? This must be the culture of your real location.

What kind of people are in your society? What do they look like? Why? Is this a result of survival of the fittest?

Do people get married? Is there a limit on family size?

Do people typically live long or short lives? Why?

Is there art, music, dance, storytelling, etc.?
